About where you are and “oh, the places you’ll go!”

If you wonder why, if you let your thoughts GO, your wandering mind takes you places you wouldn’t otherwise know.

That’s probably how you arrived here, at my website, which you’ll find to be many places in one, changing with every turn in my path:

from grad school, teaching, and surveying the digital humanities, culture, and technology . . .

to expat life in Paris, traveling, and reflecting on the storied city and my own personal growth . . .

to my latest turn (or return) — leaving academia, resettling in Louisiana, and launching into online teaching/instructional design and exploringNOLA (the sister of this site).

Like my thinking, my identity, and my quest for a purposeful life, this blog crosses between many categories, yet it insists on continuity, organization, and substance — the ordered madness that is the magic of Dr. Seuss:

Out there things can happen, and frequently do,
To people as brainy and footsy as you.
And when things start to happen, don’t worry, don’t stew.
Just go right along, you’ll start happening too!
Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

In my upcoming posts, I’ll be blogging from New Orleans, covering my adventures as a resident observer of the city’s living history, my learning experiences in online course design/teaching and creative entrepreneurship, and my perambulations in the cultural marketplace, in media old and new.

In the meantime, browse all the goods stored under the main categories for a taste of what’s to come! Concepts and animatics by Dean Mortensen.
